The project will support the country’s renewable energy efforts and is expected to be ready by March 2026. This move makes Adani a major player in India’s clean energy sector.

How Much Power Will Adani’s 1,126 MW Battery Storage Project Produce?

The Khavda project will be the biggest battery energy storage system in India. It will help store power from solar and wind plants, making electricity supply more steady and reliable. Adani Group plans to reach 50 GWh of energy storage in the next five years through this and other projects.

While the company has not officially shared the cost, analysts estimate that setting up a project of this size could cost around ₹10,000 crore (roughly US $1.2–1.3 billion). This shows the scale of investment needed to support India’s renewable energy growth.

In a tweet, the Adani Group said, “This project strengthens our commitment to India’s energy transition and ensures reliable clean power supply.” The project will use modern technology from global partners to make it efficient and safe.

Why Is India Building Large Battery Storage Systems?

India is aiming for 500 GW of clean energy by 2030. Large battery storage systems are needed to make renewable energy more stable and useful. The Khavda battery system will help manage power from solar and wind farms in Gujarat and nearby areas.

Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani said in a tweet, “We want to build strong energy infrastructure that supports the growth of renewable power and helps the country reach its carbon goals.”

By 2026, this project will play a key role in keeping electricity supply steady while more solar and wind plants come online.
